The district of Kusel-Altenglan is located in the southwest of Rhineland-Palatinate in the idyllic Nordpfälzer Bergland. It covers an area of 180 km² and is home to about 24,000 inhabitants distributed across 34 local communities including the county town of Kusel. It was created by merging the independent district of Kusel and Altenglan in 2018. The district is located in the middle of the county of Kusel with the other districts of Lauterecken-Wolfstein and Oberes Glantal. It also borders Birkenfeld County to the north, Kaiserslautern County to the south, and Saarland to the west. Most of the 34 communities have less than 1,000 inhabitants and are quiet and rural. The comprehensive expansion of broadband Internet coverage provides the ƑĚijĿūŠ DžĿƥĺ îŠ ĚljǛČĿĚŠƥ ēĿijĿƥîŕ infrastructure, which also makes it future-proof.
