Practical Studies and Applied Research

"Studying in the open" is the motto of the University of Magdeburg-Stendal. Approximately 6,600 young people study in Magdeburg and Stendal on around 50 degree programmes. Teaching and applied research in the fields of health, social affairs and education, energy and technology, environment and resources, economics and journalism are perfectly integrated with one another. In particular, courses such as Psychology of Rehabiliation, Water Engineering, Safety and Hazard Defence or Interaction Design attract students from all over Germany.

Research and transfer
Competence centres that work across disciplines on topics such as health and early education, as well as industrial laboratories for lightweight construction and innovative manufacturing processes, translate research results to the economy and society in an exemplary manner. At the centre of all activities is demand-based research.

Campus in Stendal
At the Stendal site the two departments of Applied Human Sciences and Economics are located in Osterburger Strasse. On a former barracks site, a modern and friendly campus - including a green classroom - has been constructed here. The studies also include student culture, events and sports of course. Childcare is also provided. Even if the number of students is not as high as in Magdeburg, there is everything in Stendal that belongs to a college campus: a university library, cafeteria and sports fields.
